“Swallowtail in Summer’s Twilight” is a poem inspired by the sight of a butterfly that fluttered into the garden on a summer evening, just as the season was nearing its end.
While cicadas still sang, the poet recalled a dear friend who had become a star, whose birthday fell at that time.
It felt as though that friend had returned as the swallowtail butterfly, quietly watching over from somewhere—an eternal presence woven into the twilight.
